Italy Tour – June 26 – July 4, 2017

This tour is open to all singers.

Tentative Itinerary

Day 1: Depart USA
We depart on our overnight trans-Atlantic flight to Italy. Meals and snacks are served on board.

Day 2: Arrive Italy – Venice
Upon arrival at the airport in Italy, we are greeted by our World Cultural Tours representative who escorts us to our private deluxe motor coach for transfer to our hotel in Venice-Mestre. We check into our hotel with the balance of the day at leisure. We gather for our Welcome Dinner this evening.

Day 3: Venice/Performance
This morning after breakfast, we enjoy a guided tour of the city, highlighting St. Mark’s Square and Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs. We have a performance at a local venue this evening, followed by dinner together at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Venice – Florence
Following breakfast this morning, we depart our hotel and transfer to Florence, the cultural, artistic and architectural gem of Italy. Located in the heart of Tuscany, a stunning province of hills and mountains, the city was once the epicenter of the Italian Renaissance and remains one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Upon arrival, we check-in to our hotel in Montecatini where we dine together this evening.

Day 5: Florence/Performance
After breakfast this morning, we transfer to Florence and enjoy a guided tour of the city. Our walking tour takes us by Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery with its Gates of Paradise by Ghiberti, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. We have some time to explore the city and make lunch arrangements on our own. This afternoon, we have a performance at a local venue in Chianti area, followed by dinner together at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Florence – Lucca/Impromptu
After breakfast this morning, we enjoy a day excursion to Lucca, the native town of famous composer Giacomo Puccini and other well-known musicians. We visit Puccini’s birthplace, as well as the Church of San Frediano with its magnificent thirteenth-century mosaic representing Christ in Majesty. We continue to the nearby Piazza del Anfiteatro, passing by the elegant shops of Via Filungo and through small, typically medieval streets we reach the Duomo. Passing Piazza Napoleone we arrive at Piazza San Michele, the central civic square of Lucca since Roman times. Here, we have an impromptu performance opportunity. We have time for lunch on our own and some free time for independent exploration prior to returning to Montecatini where we dine together this evening.

Day 7: Florence – Rome
Following breakfast this morning, we check-out of our hotel and depart Montecatini for Rome. We stop en route for lunch on our own and continue to Rome. Upon arrival we meet our local guide and enjoy a guided tour of Ancient Rome including a visit to the Coliseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. We continue to our hotel for check in and dine together this evening.

Day 8: Rome/Performance
Today, we enjoy a tour highlighting Baroque Rome, starting with a visit to the Piazza di Spagna, where we see the famous staircase, the Spanish Steps, leading to Trinita’ dei Monti. Our tour also highlights the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, the best conserved of Rome’s ancient temples. This afternoon, we perform during Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica (subject to confirmation), prior to our Farewell Dinner together.

Day 9: Depart Rome — Arrive USA
After breakfast, we board our motor coach and transfer to the airport for our return flight home to the USA.

Chaperone Information

  • Parents who are interested in chaperoning must pay for themselves as well as their child(ren).
  • Since boys will be chaperoned by FATHERS and girls will be chaperoned by MOTHERS, fathers of sons are strongly encouraged to chaperone.
  • All parent chaperones will be accommodated as long as there is room on the tour.
  • Parent chaperones MUST attend two meetings: one training meeting, and one parent meeting.
  • A background check will be required, or proof of a background check pass from a place of employment or where volunteering occurs. (CMS, Boy Scouts, etc.)
